Home Mart is Moving!!

Our new sign is up and we are working feverishly to move soon.  Demolition and prep work is complete and construction has begun.  We hope to move in a few weeks.

Volunteers are needed to clean, paint, insulate, and hang ceilings in the new store and offices.  In a few weeks, volunteers will be needed to move from our old site to our new store.

Our HomeMart sells new and used building materials, home and office furniture, appliances and décor.  The proceeds help to cover the operating expenses of Habitat so that we may “build houses and change lives”.

To make donations or volunteer at the HomeMart, call Angela at 706-378-5957, or e-mail her at angela@habitatrome.com.

Family Support News

Our first homeowner education class was a wonderful success.  A “family finance” class was lead by Miriam Peterson with help from her husband Carroll.  The class was attended by eight homeowners and three guests.  Miriam shared a PowerPoint presentation with practical tips on managing finances and warnings of typical pitfalls.  There was a great deal of interest and discussion from our homeowners.

A second class was held on November 13 covering maintaining landscapes.  It was an enjoyable and helpful class led by Patricia York and other Master Gardeners.

We currently have 9 mentors trained and meeting with homeowners.  It is exciting and encouraging to see how lives are being changed.  We need 7-10 more mentors in the near future.

To volunteer with Family Support as a mentor, trainer, or committee member, please contact us at 706-378-0030 or habitatrome@bellsouth.net.
